A loan of $1,100 helped to buy pigs and cows.

Maritza Manuela's story

The Communal Bank San Pedro De Bueblo Nuevo meets twice a month in the parish of Pueblo Nuevo in the canton of Santa Ana, a place of honest people working in the fields and with livestock, with beautiful country landscapes and friendly people.

Maritza lives in this place. She is 29 years old, married, and they have together a 5 year old son who goes to school. Her husband is a merchant.

She is a good wife who is requesting a loan for her husband to use in his business. He works buying and selling cattle and pigs. Two days a week he walks through the fields to buy these animals and later he takes and resells them in Santa Ana or Portoviejo where he has customers who buy week to week. It is this way he is able to support his family.

This loan is to buy pigs and cows for weekend sale. She has been with the communal bank since the beginning and she likes it because with the loans she is able to finance her husband’s business.

Her dream is to buy a truck to transport the animals as they have to hire transport now.
