A loan of $1,500 helped to buy stock merchandise for her store.

Abigail's story

Abigail, 23, is single. She works selling basic staples like corn, beans, oil, eggs and soft-drinks and in the evenings she sells ‘atole’ [cornmeal-based hot beverage]. She also sells products like lotions, creams and beauty products via catalog. She learned this activity from some family members who are merchants and she’s been doing this for about five years.

The loan she’s asking Fundación Campo for is to buy 10 quintals of corn, 10 quintals of sugar, 10 quintals of rice, 10 quintals of beans, 5 cases of oil, 10 flats of eggs and 10 bundles of foodstuffs. Her inventory will be larger and she’ll have more products to offer her customers so her income will also be higher. She hopes to use income to open a snack bar and to start building her house; she will also continue with her university studies.
