A loan of $2,175 helped a member to buy more sacks of charcoal to resell.

Blue Group's story

Salma, who is in her early 20s, is married, with one small baby. She has been running a charcoal business for three years now. She works from 8.00am to 7.00pm daily and is able to make a fair monthly profit.

This will be Salma's fourth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania Ltd. She used the previous loans to buy a TV set, a refrigerator, a mattress, and a bed; covered household expenses; and bought more stock of charcoal. She has successfully paid back all her loans.

Salma hopes for a loan to buy more sacks of charcoal to resell. Her dream is to one day be able to build her own house.

She will share this loan with her loan group, 'Blue Group,' which has ten members who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.

In this group: Salma, Salima, Mwanaid, Editha, Anna, Asia, Salma, Sakina, Regina, Christofolas
