A loan of $400 helped to buy fertilizer to grow palms and to pay for labor to harvest his produce.

Juvencio's story

Sixty-year-old Juvencio is a hardworking and enterprising man who really wants to get ahead. He is separated from the mother of his children and he lives with his 22- and 20-year-old children in his own home.

Juvencio grows yucca and bananas to sell in local markets and for personal consumption. He also grows palm for oil on a 20ha plot that he acquired over 30 years ago, which is how long he has been doing this work, now with the help of his children. He likes his business as he knows it well and he is passing on his experience to his children. He also likes the income from it, which provides him with the means to support his family and make sure they do not want for anything. On the other hand, what he does not like is the remoteness of his location, as he does not have basic utilities such as electricity. However, things are improving with the new programs and he currently wants to expand his business and leave his children with something secure for their future. This will be his second loan with MFP and he hopes for their support in continuing with his objectives. With the requested 1,000 nuevos soles, he will buy fertilizer to grow palms and he will pay for labor to harvest his produce.
