Balunkeswar Shg Group's story

Balunkeswar SHG was formed in 2006 and is composed of ten members in a small village in Odisha.

Susama is the lady who is standing in the third position on the left side of the photograph. She is wearing an orange, black and red color saree. Susama, aged 29, is an educated member of their group, so she was selected as the leader of Balunkeswar SHG. Susama has two sons and one daughter. She is living with her husband and her three children. Her children are continuing schooling.

With the loan that she is receiving, Susama plans to boost her agricultural business, and to do so she will purchase chemical fertilizers, rent a field and pay for the cost of labor. In order to strengthen her agricultural business, she plans to improve her strategy and make use of new farming techniques.

Both Susama and her husband have been involved in this activity for five years. They have good knowledge of paddy cultivation and vegetable cultivation.

Susama currently grows rice. She has requested a loan to grow her agriculture activity. Her ambition is to expand the business for which she is receiving financial support, and to diversify her activity by growing vegetables.
