A loan of $1,275 helped a member to buy fertilizer for his cultivated land.

Voern's Group's story

Residing in a rural area of the Moung Russey district in Cambodia’s Battambang province, Voern is a 57-year-old, married father of five children. Three of his children are dependent, two are still in school while the remaining one is too young for school. To support the family, Voern and his wife have been involved in rice farming and sesame planting for ten years. He earns about 22,000 KHR each day and saves approximately 15,000 KHR after paying his daily expenses.

Voern, a third-time borrower, is leading a group of five. He completely paid back the previous loans, and it has enabled him to better support his family as well as his current business. Now he is leading his group to ask for a loan. As the leader, he is going to use his portion to buy fertilizer for his cultivated land. He hopes to increase his crop yield so he can sell it for a good price in order to improve his standard of living and keep his children in school.
