A loan of $400 helped to buy pea seeds and to hire laborers.

Zenovia's story

Zenovia, 65, is a widow. Her children have left home already. She lives alone in her own house in an agricultural area. She built it with her husband when she was young. Zenovia works like a young woman despite her age. Her age is not an impediment to making a living in a very tiring job, agriculture.

The soil in the region is favorable for growing peas, potatoes, corn, and some vegetables, so she makes the most of every growing season. "I like my job because I feel free walking through the arroyos and hills with my animals and tending to my crops," she says. She makes the most of her time as soon as the first rays of the sun illuminate the morning so she can be certain to take care of all of her crops.

What she doesn't like is that many times when she doesn't give her crops adequate treatment they get infected with pests. She remembers sadly how once she lost almost her entire crop. With the experience that life gave her, though, she keeps on working.

This month she plans to hire laborers and plant pea seeds, for which she needs your help. She belongs to Lindo Amanecer de Cumutay Communal Bank and she likes the type of work. This would be her twelfth loan with MFP. She's grateful for the trust in her for such a long time.

With the 1000 soles [PEN] she'll be able to get a bag of pea seeds and pay for the service of the laborers she's going to hire.
