A loan of $1,350 helped a member to purchase a variety of products for her beauty salon.

Astar's Group's story

Astar is 32 years old, and a hard-working, independent woman. She lives in Punjab, Pakistan, with her husband, two daughters and son. All of the children are students. Her husband is a government employee, and his income is insufficient to meet the household expenses. So to help her husband, since 2010 Astar has been running a beauty salon in her house. She wants to purchase some more cosmetic products like lipsticks, nail polishes, facial creams and makeup kits, for her beauty salon. For that reason, Astar, as a member of a six-person lending group, has requested a loan from Kiva's partner, BRAC Pakistan. Upon getting a profit, first of all she will repay the loan amount to Kiva, and then she wants to build a new room in the salon, as the space in the salon is too congested. She hopes that her business will grow more, and she is very much thankful to both Brac Pakistan and Kiva.
