A loan of $4,125 helped a member to buy fish.

Bodiel's Group's story

The Banc Villageois to which this borrowers’ group belongs has been in existence since December 16, 2011. This group is composed of 39 women living in the same village. Their main business activity is processing seafood as well as retailing.

Binta Abdou, the star borrower of the group, is 28 years old. She is married and has four children. She processes seafood at the seaside in her village. She is standing on the right wearing a blue and white sweater, raising her left hand.

Every day she buys three cases of fish at 5,000 West African francs each. She resells part of it and smokes the rest. Her loan will help her buy more cases of fish to smoke in order to maximize her revenues. She would like to reinvest her revenues in order to increase her earning capacity and bolster her savings, so as to be financially independent.
