A loan of $1,500 helped to buy an over machine, a chair and table for her sewing machine, an iron, tools, quality raw materials and fabrics.

Hazha's story

Hazha is a 27-year-old married Iraqi woman. With limited career options due to cultural restrictions and domestic constraints, Hazha is one of many Iraqi women who work from home, using her sewing skills to generate some income and participate in meeting the financial needs of her family.

She has a small, home-based sewing and tailoring business which she would like to expand to better meet her customers' needs. She would like to buy an over machine, a chair and table for her sewing machine, an iron, tools, quality raw materials and fabrics.

To make these purchases she took a loan from Relief International Microfinance Iraq in the amount of 1500 USD.

Hazha is under 30 and as such qualifies for a youth loan.

Based on the political and social challenges of lending in Iraq, personally identifiable information about this borrower has been altered for her protection. RI-Iraq appreciates Kiva lenders' consideration of these challenges and encourages lenders to continue their support for Iraqi borrowers.
