A loan of $850 helped purchase supplies.

Rosa Del Rosario's story

The July 9 Communal Bank meets every 15 days in Canton Montecristi, which is know for its rich pre-colonial culture and for its handicrafts that are known at the national and international levels. It is the place with the famous straw sombreros. Rosa lives in this place. She is 42 years old, married, and has three children who are 14, 13, and five years old. The two older ones are studying in high school, and the little one is in elementary school. Rosa's husband works at a recycling plant. She has a small grocery store in her home, which has been of great help because her husband does not earn much through his work, and the household expenses are great. In her store, besides basic supplies, she sells fruits, legumes, drinks, stationery, and dollar-store-type items. She opens her store very early in the morning because her neighbors start making their purchases very early, and that is when she makes her best sales. She has had this business for three years, and she likes it because she can earn something, and she can be with her children at the same time. This loan is to purchase basic supplies to stock her store even more. She has been with the communal bank for two years and she likes it because of the benefits and because of the help that the institution give her. Her dream is to continue growing her business.
