A loan of $550 helped to buy hens and animal feed.

Mayra Maribel's story

Mayra is a kind, gentle and above all determined to get her family ahead. She's on her third loan with the communal bank Bankito Progresista. She lives in the city center of Cuenca, considered the Athens of Ecuador, designated as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1999, and bathed by 4 rivers. Its residents still maintain the culture and traditions of their villages.

Mayra is 20 years old, married, and with a child from her marriage. Her husband works in construction as a builder. They don't have their own house, so they are leasing.

Mayra is from the city of Quevedo. She moved to Cuenca five years ago looking for a better job. Currently, she's not working because she takes care of her small boy.

The loan will be used to buy hens and feed to start her own business breeding hens.

Her goal is to expand her hen business and have various animal sheds for breeding.
