A loan of $475 helped to buy ulluco seeds and bags of organic fertilizers.

Dedicación's story

Dedicación is a 47 year-old widow. She has 5 children, but she only lives with her youngest child who is 21 years-old. She lives in her own home, which she and her husband built side-by- side, years ago. The house is located in the rural annex.

Dedicación has a sweet smile and an exemplary work ethic. She makes a living as a farmer using land that is close to her home, as well as her own land. She has crops of distinct varieties of potatoes, specifically varieties that are colored and starchy. She also has crops of ullucos, an Andean tuber that is similar to a potato.

"With my farming business I have been able to save a lot of money, which is why I also started another business selling livestock." mentioned Dedicación.

She believes that farming is unpredictable, but she likes the pace of work. When she harvests her crops, she sells the produce in her own district, in the city of Tarma.

The sale of ullucos is profitable, which is why this month she is going to plant a new crop of this tuber. This is what she needs help with. This is her 15th loan which she has taken out through MFP. She is thankful for the opportunity to develop her business. She promises to make her loan payments on time. She is happy with and supported by the other communal bank group members; her group is called "Mirando un Futuro Mejor" (Looking for a Better Future)

Dedicación will use the loan to buy ulluco seeds and bags of organic fertilizer.
