A loan of $800 helped to buy different brands and flavors of soda and ice cream to sell.

Maria's story

María, 38, is hardworking, determined, friendly, and polite. She is married to Hilter, who is employed and is the father of their three children: Jacqueline, 14; Angelo, 11; and Eler, 3. The family lives together in the house her husband purchased. María sells a variety of well-known brands and delicious flavors of soda and ice cream. She stores them in a refrigerator she purchased with her savings. The products are kept at a low temperature to satisfy her customers' tastes. She started her business a year ago with a loan from MFP, and she works alone, always serving her customers cordially. She likes her business because she can be at home and take care of her beloved children, while earning enough to pay her household expenses. Since her sales depend on the weather, she doesn't like it when it rains continuously because sales fall. This doesn't discourage her, and she plans to add more items to her inventory. This is her 6th loan cycle with MFP, and she is grateful for the chance to achieve her objectives. She is comfortable with the members of her communal bank because they are responsible and caring people. She will use the loan of 2000 nuevos soles to buy different brands and flavors of soda and ice cream at low wholesale prices to stock her business.
