A loan of $250 helped a member to buy household supplies.

Samoen's Group's story

Samoen, 38, is the married mother of one son who is still in school. Rice farming has been Samoen's main income source for several years, supplemented by working for others for a fee. Samoen currently earns about 11,000 riels (KHR) per day and manages to save about 4,000 KHR each day after daily expenses.

Samoen’s group consists of two members who live in a village of the Ou Reang Ov District of Kampong Cham Province. Samoen is taking out her first microloan with VisionFund. She is leading her group in applying for a loan. She is going to use her portion to rent a harvest machine for harvesting her rice and will spend a portion of it on household supplies. She hopes to earn more income from her paddy field so as to make a better living and keep her son in school.
