Elizabeth is a widow and has two children. She is 52 years old and lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. Elizabeth operates a business providing transportation services to local community members to earn a living. She has been doing this for four years. Every month she earns 4,000 PHP from this work. She has requested a loan of 29,000 PHP to repair her vehicle to provide better service. In 2010, Elizabeth joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services that will help improve her business and living situation. In the future, Elizabeth hopes to improve and expand her business and to earn twice as much income.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
