A loan of $275 helped to buy tubers.

Raul's story

Raúl is 26-year-old gentleman who is single and lives in the city of Chincha. He is a friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic person who has the desire to succeed. Unfortunately, due to the lack of financial resources and the need to work in order cover his expenses, Raúl was not able to study for a professional degree in medicine as he would have liked. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer with his friends. On a few occasions, Raúl prepares a delicious dish of “carapulcra con sopa seca” (a spicy Peruvian stew served with dried potatoes) to share with his family.

Through his own initiative and with great effort and dedication, Raúl has worked in his own small business of selling tubers. He has a vending stall at the market where he conducts his sales. Every day he begins his job in the early morning hours and is able to work approximately 10 hours. Raúl enjoys his work and believes he is doing well because he offers good prices and friendly service to his customers.

He is very grateful to the Kiva lenders. Thanks to the assistance they have provided, he will be able to buy a large quantity of tubers such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava, and other items. As a result, Raúl will have a well-stocked business and be able to serve more customers. He continues to work and strive to get ahead so that he can achieve his greatest dream of becoming a major wholesaler.
