María Angelita

A loan of $550 helped to purchase food and tableware.

María Angelita's story

María is the founding member of the Yanuncay Communal Bank, a group she enjoys because of its camaraderie and unity. She lives in the Yanuncay sector of Cuenca, a city that has an abundance of natural resources and architecture that enamors its visitors. Its gastronomic variety captivates the palates of locals and foreigners. María is 77 years old. She is a widow with seven children who are all adults, professionals, married, and living on their own. She owns the house in which she lives. María has been engaged in food sales since she was very young. She learned this business from her mother. She works from Sunday to Sunday without a set schedule. She will use the loan to purchase food for the preparation of her dishes and she will also buy new tableware. Her dream is to continue growing her business.
