Greetings from Peru! This is the Women Builders group.

Fátima, one of the members, is married and has two children. Fátima has the support of her husband who works providing public transportation services as a taxi driver. She, for her part, has a grocery store in her home. She began her business four years ago with the goal of helping her husband with the family expenses. Fátima works in her store every day for approximately 16 hours. The customers that she attends to are mainly her neighbors and residents of the area who go to her business in search of diverse products. Thanks to her work she has been able to complete the construction of her home and to support her children with their studies. With the loan she is seeking she will be able to buy more products to expand her store. In the future she wants to enlarge her business to attend to more customers.

Fátima is the first woman in the line, dressed in a turquoise shirt.

Fátima is thankful for your support!

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
