A loan of $550 helped a member to buy second-hand clothing to offer for sale.


Sila Group's story

This group is called Sila and consists of five ladies who live in Sana'a, Yemen. Together, they have requested a loan in the amount of 115,000 YER from AMB. Amira, a member of the group, is a hard-working woman who has for a long time been the sole supporter of her six children. She sells used clothing to earn an income. She has operated her business for many years and has gained the respect and admiration of her neighbors and clients. She tells us that she works instead of sleeping if her children ever have less than what they need. Amira tells us that her business is not running as well as it has in the past, due to the bad situation in Yemen. Amira has applied for a loan in the amount of 20,000 YER from AMB in order to buy additional clothes to continue her business. She hopes to expand her business in order to improve her family's living standards.
