A loan of $1,050 helped a member to buy seeds and pesticides for her farmland.

Som's Group's story

Som, 50, is a citizen from a village located in the Ratanak Mondul district of Battambang province, Cambodia. She is a married mother of five children. Corn planting is the main source of her family’s income, and her husband also complements the income by raising cows. Som and her husband have been in this business for almost 15 years, earning about 16,000 KHR per day to make a living.

Som has been with VisionFund for eight cycles, while the other members have been with VisionFund from four to five cycles. The past loans have helped her family to have sufficient foods.

Now Som is leading her group of three to ask for a loan of 1,400,000 KHR each. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy seeds and pesticides for her farmland. Som hopes this loan will enable her to grow her business and earn more income to improve her standard of living.
