A loan of $650 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Phos' Group's story

A rural villager from the Ek Phnom district of Battambang province in Cambodia, Phos is 42 years old and married. She has six children, one of whom is dependent on her and still in school. Phos is a rice farmer, while her husband complements the income by working as paid construction worker in the local area. Engaging in this business for 20 years, together they can earn about 30,000 KHR (Cambodian riles) per day, but they can save about 10,000 KHR each day after daily expenses. Phos has been with VisionFund for one loan cycle, while the other member has been with VisionFund for four cycles. Phos fully repaid the loans, which have given back to her a good return. Now her living conditions are getting better day by day. Now she is leading her group to ask for a loan. Phos will use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland and will use a portion of it to spend on labor costs in harvesting rice. She hopes to earn more income from her paddy by increasing her crop yield so as to make a better living.
