Edward is aged twenty eight and a farmer in Kitale county in Kenya where he lives with his wife and two children who both at school. He has been in farming for the past three years producing milk, horticultural and poultry products which he sells at the local market in his area. He also owns a motorbike for transportation business as an additional source of income.
He is requesting 30,000 KES loan from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase poultry which will give him more products to help him generate extra income to uplift his family's livelihood. He will use some of the money to pay school fees for his children, and he aspires to have redoubled his production in the next five years.
Poultry diseases and feeds are his major challenges in farming.
Edward is very grateful to Juhudi Kilimo for funding him with the loan.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
