A loan of $850 helped a member to cover the cost of labor, for plowing the field where she cultivates cassava.

Nhet's Group's story

A villager named Nhet resides in a rural village of the Dambae district, in Cambodia’s Kampong Cham province. She is a 32-year-old, married woman and a mother of five dependent kids. Some of Nhet‘s children are students.

To support the family, Nhet has a business planting cassava, earning around 25,000KHR per day and saving around 10,000KHR, after offsetting the daily living expenses. Nhet, a third-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva's partner), is leading a group of three female members to take out a loan in the amount of 3,400,000KHR in total. Nhet stated that with her two previous loans she was able to better run her cassava-planting business. This time, she will use her loan portion to cover the cost of labor for plowing her cassava field. Nhet hopes to earn as much income as possible from her current business, so that she can send all of her dependent kids to good schools and improve her family's lifestyle.
