A loan of $650 helped to buy ingredients to make the food she sells.

Virginia's story

Virginia is 33 and has two sons aged 7 and 10, who go to school. She sells a dish made with sausage and chips, as well as hamburgers with or without chips. Her fast-food stand is located in the area of Villa Fátima. This is Virginia's first loan with the field partner. She will use it to buy the ingredients she needs, such as sausage, potatoes, and others. She faces many difficulties in her business, one being that she works nights, and as such could fall prey to some delinquent, or be assaulted by a drunkard or any other shady character that roams the night. In the rainy season, the cold puts her at risk of contracting a respiratory disease, and all the hard work she does could result in pulling a muscle or developing back troubles. She works very hard for the sake of her sons, and is planning to use the profits from her food stall to keep improving her business and to expand it. She hopes to save some money and improve her lot in life. Her greatest dream is to open a small restaurant or food shop of her own and to be able to give her two small children a better life.
