Elizabeth works independently in two business activities: giving haircuts and making crochet items. She alone handles the expenses such as food, basic services, and clothing for her family.
The loan she is requesting will be used to buy equipment for her hair salon, such as a pair of new scissors, another hair dryer, and an electric razor so that she can grow her business. Elizabeth’s dream is to earn more income so that she can improve her quality of life and acquire a location for her beauty salon. She currently provides haircuts out of her home.
This is the first time she has worked with IMPRO and Kiva.
About IMPROIMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.
To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
