Hayk's story

Hayk is 52 years old. He has lived and worked in the village of Syunik for around 25 years with his wife, sons and daughter. Before this, Hayk and his family lives in Azerbaijan, but during the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan he was forced to move back to his homeland with his family. At first, it was hard for Hayk to take care of his family. He admitted that it was easier to be in his homeland, of course, but it was not easy to start everything anew and in this difficult time also find work and feed the five children.

When Hayk finished agricultural college, he and his wife started working with farming in the village of Syunik. As a result, Hayk's family now has their own piece of land, where they grow grapes, vegetables and fruit. He also built a small greenhouse where he grows parsley, radishes, onions, coriander, dill, basil, rosemary and similar all year round. Hayk used the income to buy a tractor, which was necessary to him, and further he rents out the tractor to his fellow villagers, which also gives him income.

Currently Hayk and his family are happy and think of themselves as full citizens of their homeland and try to forget the fact that they used to be refugees. For the purchase of seeds, diesel, manure and approval for spring planting, Hayk needs a loan in the amount of 750 US dollars.
