A loan of $850 helped to buy notebooks, uniforms and shoes.

Helen Del Socorro's story

Helen is 38 years old and is originally from Managua. She is a single mother of 3 sons. One of them is currently studying at the university while the other two are working. Helen has her own small business, which she started 12 years ago, after having worked in the sales of various products as a street vendor. After some time, she decided to open a small shop in her own house, as a way to provide for her children in the future. Helena received the support of her brother, who helped her with $70 to start her business. In addition from her business she receives income from money that is sent by her sons. She plans to expand her shop, thus she is requesting the loan to finance books, notebooks and shoes to be ready for the school season in which the sales of these items increase. By increasing the inventory of her business she expects to get more income. In the future she plans to buy a car, while in the short term her goal is to improve the infrastructure of her shop in order to give her business a better image.
