A group of neighbors and friends started the communal bank "Mama Simona" in the city of Cusco. The bank’s members have different lines of work, such as food sales, ice cream sales, raising farm animals and jewelry sales.

Mauricia is 44, and was born in the district of Poroy, Cusco province, where she still lives. She lives in a common-law marriage and has three children. She runs a small grocery store at home. This time, she is requesting a loan to buy supplies, such as sacks of rice, sacks of sugar, noodles, milk, beverages, and candies. The bank’s members appreciate the opportunity given and promise to pay the installments in time.
