Mujeres Emprendedoras Group's story

This communal bank is called “Mujeres Emprendedoras” (Enterprising Women) and it’s composed of three brave women who are worthy of admiration who strive daily to move each of their families forward. The group president is María, a woman who defines herself as humble, honest, responsible and very hardworking. María is 32-year-old and lives with her three children and husband in the city of Latacunga.

María sells fruit sorbets throughout the city streets; it’s demanding work that María does with much love in order to help her household economy. María asked FODEMI for a loan to buy a freezer to maintain the quality and flavor of the sorbets she sells. María knows that this investment will help her increase business and her income will be improved as a result too. María’s dream is to continue growing with her business, to have her own sorbet shop and to continue supporting her children and give them education which is the most important thing for them to become upstanding citizens.
