Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $425 helped to buy lattice windows, aluminum window frames, and to pay laborers to do the installation.

Adilia Emperatriz's story

Adilia is 46 years old and has 2 adult children. She is a widow; her husband died in the war. Adilia had to work a great deal to see to it that her children studied and now, thank God, they are both grand professionals. Adilia has worked as a secretary for 16 years, enabling her to pay off her loans.

With this loan, she plans to install windows in her house, which she has built with much effort. Adilia hopes to leave a good home for her 2 children. To commence the necessary work, she needs to buy lattice windows and aluminum window frames, and to pay for the labor. This will finally finish the walls, separating the rooms, among other improvements. Little by little her home is being completed.
