A loan of $1,850 helped a member to buy condiments.

Bilakoro Group's story

The Bilakoro group is made up of 7 married women and 2 widows who have an average age of 41 and, on average, 4 children. They mainly live in traditional family environments in the district of Niebala, Bougouni town. They got to know each other thanks to neighbourly relationships, friendship and business. The group joined Soro Yiriwaso in order to strengthen their financial capacity so that they could better run their businesses, and they are on their 2nd loan. The group members sell beauty products, charcoal, cups, soap, condiments and various other items.

Souadou (the woman sitting in the front in the picture) sells condiments. She plans to use her loan to buy 2 bags of onions, 1 box of Maggi stock cubes, 1 bag of salt, 1 box of tomato concentrate and a package of various condiments (aubergines, garlic, cabbage and pepper) from the wholesalers in Bougouni. She makes her sales at the market and from her home, for cash or credit, to a retail clientèle made up of men and women. She expects to make an average monthly profit of 30 000 francs, which will be reinvested in her business and used to take care of healthcare expenses and repay the loan.

Note: Mamine, a group member, could not be in the picture because of health reasons.
