A loan of $600 helped a member to pay labor costs for operating her cassava plantation.

Mas' Group's story

Living in a rural area located in Tbaung Khmum province’s Kampong Cham district, Mas is a 61-year-old mother of five children, two of whom are dependent on her and still in school. She has been involved in planting cassava and is supplementing her family’s income by working for others for a fee. Having been in the business for fifteen years, she can make a daily income from her current business of 30,000KHR and is able to save about 12,000KHR per day after expenses.

Mas’s group consists of two members who have been with VisionFund for two cycles. Mas has completely paid back the past loan which has helped her to better support her family as well as provide for her children’s education. Now she is leading her group to ask for another loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to pay labor costs for operating her cassava plantation. She hopes to earn more income from her current business so as to make a better living and keep her children in school.
