A loan of $400 helped to buy various bundles of wool.

Maria's story

María is 39 years old and lives with her husband, Jesús. They have 2 sons: Humberto and Jasmira. They have their own house situated in a rural district.

María is clever and hard-working. 10 years ago she opened her shop selling wool in different colours, which she sells to the inhabitants of the area who make clothes, or tapestries. The business is going very well for her, and she says they earn an average of 300 soles a week. But, as a good craftswoman, she also makes tapestries, which she weaves with a lot of effort and creativity. She sells them in Ecuador where she travels twice a month.

She also takes advantage of the season when she harvests maca, which is once a year. As this is coming up, she is planning to stock up her tapestry business with new and various designs, and she also wants to innovate with the wool. She is enthusiastic about the holiday season and hopes that the tourists visit her.

Because of this she needs your support to acquire more merchandise. She belongs to the "Corazón de San Pedro" and this is her 10th loan with MFP. She feels grateful for the help offered. She also promises to be punctual with her repayments. María will invest the 1000 soles she is asking for in buying various bundles of wool which are 35kg each, and cost around 10 soles per kg. With this she will be able to weave the beautiful tapestries she makes.
