A loan of $3,475 helped a member to buy wooden frames.

Las Maravillosas Group's story

The communal bank “Las Maravillosas” (“The Wonderful Women”) has eight members, all women. The president of the bank is Sandra. She is 28 years old and is married with 3 children, who are 4, 9 and 11 years old. She sells wooden frames and has a stall in the El Torno area.

This is the group’s second loan cycle with the institution. Sandra will use the loan to buy wooden frames at wholesale to sell retail. In this way she can increase her business’s working capital. Her reason for requesting the loan is to stock up her business. Sandra will use the profits to buy electrical appliances for her home. This will enable her to improve her family’s quality of life.

Sandra is a very responsible and hardworking person. She is happy and grateful to the institution for the support that she and the other members of the group receive, as often these businesses are the only activity they have to support themselves.
