A loan of $1,575 helped to hire day laboreres and buy achiote plants.

Margarita's story

Margarita, who is 36 years old, is married to Máximo, who is 45. They maintain a marriage whose love has produced three children, John, Ruth, and Daisy. Now they live in an adobe house that she inherited from her parents on the occasion of her marriage. Along with Máximo, she has been working in agricultural activities for seven years. After working as day laborers, they managed to acquire their own parcel of land, where up to now they have produced coffee, achiote, and some cacao. She likes her work since it is an activity that she performs together with her family, extending from her grandparents, whom she remembers with great love. The products that she finally manages to obtain are later sold to middlemen in her region, whose current price covers the expenditures of production.

As a way of making improvements in her parcel, she wants to renovate their plantings of achiote, for which she should have the help of day laborers and plants ready to be put into her land.

She has many plans for the future, among which are the construction of their house using quality materials for the benefit of her little ones, to whom she hopes to offer a quality education in the future, thanks to her work. For the present loan, she wants to have 4000 PEN, which will be destined to hire day laborers and buy achiote plants. With the rest of the money, she has planned to do the weeding of her cacao plantings.
