Cochabamba, Bolivia / Food Stall

A loan of $1,500 helped to buy a cart to make fried potatoes with hot dogs.

Claudia's story

Claudia is a woman worthy of admiration. She is a single mother to her three year old daughter Matilde. Claudia lives in a rural area on the outskirts of the city, and in one of Cochabamba's poorest districts. Having inherited her parents' house, she now lives with her parents. She studied for a Bachelor's degree but had to drop out when she fell pregnant. Her boyfriend left her and she has not heard anything of him since. For five years, Claudia has worked as a cashier in a supermarket, working from 8am until 3pm. After work, she comes home and then works selling fast-food fried potatoes with hot dogs from her cart. This work is going well for her as it generates more income than working in the supermarket. She is applying for this loan to buy a bigger cart so that she can produce a higher quantity of food and increase her income.
