Mariam is a 59-year-old married woman with five children. She and her husband sacrificed their lives to provide their children with good lives. Mariam is a hard worker who insisted on working outside of her home ten years ago. She prepared and sold Mouneh (preserved food) to help husband, a school teacher, increase their income and improve their living to meet their children's needs.
In 2011, Mariam opened a convenience store, which was a very important step in improving her business. She sells sweets, candies, conserves, soft drinks, and chips, as well as her homemade Mouneh.
Today Mariam is applying for her first loan from Kiva partner Al Majmoua in order to expand her selection of offerings with special cereals.
She hopes to continue to expand her business to better meet her customers' needs.
