A loan of $600 helped a member to purchase fertilizer and pesticide, and to pay wages to farm laborers.

Han's Group's story

Han is a villager living in a rural village of Ek Phnom district in Cambodia’s Battambang province. She is a 56-year-old widow with nine children. Han earns a living through farming rice. Having been involved in the rice-growing business for more than 30 years, she can earn approximately 26,000 KHR (Cambodian riels) daily and save about 9,000 KHR after deducting the daily expenses.

Han has been with Kiva’s partner VisionFund for five loan cycles already, with which she succeeded in better supporting the family. Now she is in need of money to purchase fertilizer and pesticide and to pay wages to farm laborers. Therefore, Han is leading a group of two female members to take out a loan in the amount of 2,400,000 KHR in total.

In the near future, she expects a boost in her income via the help of her requested loan portion. Han is willing to use the anticipated income to send her beloved children to school and, hopefully, to build a bright future for them.
