Ibtisam is a 43-year-old Lebanese woman. She’s married to Ahmad, who has been employed for more than 20 years. They have three children who are still attending school. Working together, Ibtisam and her husband are managing the family’s household expenses and looking to pay their children's study fees. Ibtisam opened her own artificial flowers shop in 2010. She sells all colors and types of flowers as well. Today, she’s asking to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to buy added products for her shop such as flowers, ribbons, and many other related items. This will certainly increase the number of customers asking for her services and therefore her revenues. In the future, she plans to enlarge her shop by adding different kinds of flowers to it.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
