Las Del Río (Cuenca) Group's story

The Las del Rio communal bank is made up of 6 enterprising women who fight day to day to get their families ahead and improve their financial stability. They live in the Jadan parish of Cuenca, a place surrounded by natural beauty and beautiful landscapes. Its people work in artisanal crafts, making rope. They also work in farming and raise animals.

One of the members of this group is Ana. She has been a member of the Las del Rio communal bank for two years and a half. During that time, se has been able to establish friendships with all of the members.

Ana is 32 years old. She is married and has two children, aged 17 and 11. Her oldest daughter stays at home and helps with the household work, and her younger son goes to school. Her husband works as a bricklayer. They own the house they live in.

She raises animals such as: sheep, pigs, chickens and guinea pigs, She also has a greenhouse where she grows tomatoes to sell. She also farms and what she harvests is for household consumption.

She will invest the money from the loan in buying construction materials to make some improvements on her greenhouse.

Her dream is for her children to have professional careers
