A loan of $600 helped to expand her farm.

Angeline's story

Angeline is married with three children and they live in a two-room apartment in Bamenda Mezam Division of the North West Region of Cameroon. She has faced so many challenges in life, among which are accidents of family members, thus, making her spend the little time she has on drugs, also sickness, stress over the death of her parents, and limited funds to educate her children and meet the rising demands of their needs.

With the new loan requested, Angeline promises to expand her poultry farm by buying more piglets, chicks, animal feed, and seedlings and to rent farm land. She is very positive her business will succeed because she has regular customers who buy her farm output and ready animals for sale, she has experience in the business, and the demand of such products creates her demand in the area. With this activity, the community will benefit from manure which will fertilize their farms, thus, leading to high yields; products will be sold to them at moderate prices.

With the profit from the loan, Angeline will pay her children's school fees and provide their basic needs; she will expand her business by buying more animals for her poultry farm, and also provide medication. To her, Grounded and Holistic Approach for People's Empowerment (GHAPE) loans are preferable because loans are given without collateral and on limited interest rates.
