A loan of $500 helped to buy clothes and material for tailoring.

Augustine's story

Augustine lives in the Mariakani area of Coast Province, Kenya. He is married and has five school-going children. He owns a tailoring shop and a clothes shop, businesses that he has been operating for six years. He started the business through his personal savings. He is also a plumber.

He learnt about Milango through friends who invited him to the group and he joined the group with the aim of accessing credit to improve his business operations. His main challenges are purchasing stock, price fluctuations and inflation.

Augustine is applying for a loan of 41,850 Kenya shillings to buy clothes and materials for tailoring. The extra income from the loan will be added to his savings to buy another modern sewing machine. His future plan is to become a leading tailor, getting tenders from customers in the area, and to become a leading supplier of school uniforms.
