Rachael's story

Rachael lives in the Kongowea area of Coast Province, Kenya. She is a married businesslady and runs a clothes business, which she has been operating for four years; she works as a hawker. In this business, she sells shawls, handbags, pants, shoes, etc. She also sells fruit.

Rachael learned about Milango through friends who invited her to the group. She joined with the aim of accessing credit to improve her business operations. Her main challenges are exhaustion due to trekking and competition.

Rachael is applying for a loan of 85,850 Kenya shillings (KES) to purchase additional stock of secondhand clothing like bed sheets, shoes, and clothes. Her extra income from the loan will be added to her savings to help open a stall in the town. Her dream is to open a larger boutique that can provide more income to educate her daughter.
