Najat is a 38-year-old married woman and a mother of four children. For three years now, she has been baking 'tannour' and 'manakeesh' (cheese-stuffed bread) and selling them in her village. 'Tannour' is a traditional type of Lebanese flatbread baked in a kiln-like oven.

Najat is applying for a loan from Kiva’s partner, Al Majmoua, to buy the flour needed for her production. She will use the rest of the money to pay her children’s school installment fees. This is Najat’s first loan from Al Majmoua and she is optimistic about her experience which will allow her to ensure the stable income she needs to support her household.
