A loan of $1,200 helped to purchase eggs.

Yessica Maria's story

Yessica lives in Ica, Peru, which is located in the Sechura Desert about four hours south of Lima and is called "Land of the Sun" by Peruvians. It is known in the country for its frequent earthquakes (8.0 in 2007, 6.9 in 2011), its production of grapes, asparagus and olives, and, most of all, as the source of the national drink of Peru, Pisco. In this hot and arid climate we find Jessica's home and business. In her free time she likes to go on walks and visit family. She knows full well that Peru is known for having some of the most delicious food in the world, and one of her favorites dishes is rice with chicken. She went to school through high school but she would like to study to be a professional. Yessica is married, and her husband works as a master builder. They have two children, who are 7 and 11 and are in elementary school. Yessica makes a living selling eggs, and she works six days a week tending up to 10 customers. She thinks the business is going well because she offers quality products and provides good customer service. Yessica is very grateful to Kiva lenders since this is the second time you have provided your support, and thanks to that she will be able to purchase more supplies, like eggs at wholesale, which will allow her to have more products to sell and increase her profits so she can continue toward her biggest dream: finishing construction on her home.
