A loan of $1,200 helped to buy wood.

Jose Amador's story

Jose lives in the city of Carhuaz in the Peruvian highlands, where one of the most picturesque and popular tourist attractions, the Nevado de Pastoruri Mountain, is located. Jose is a very hardworking man. From a very young age he learned to earn a crust by the sweat of his own brow, as his parents had few economic resources. As a result, he had to work from a young age to support them. Nonetheless, despite adversities, he managed to study to become a teacher.

Jose set up his carpentry business due to the lack of jobs. He was encouraged by his father who taught him these skills when he was growing up. Jose works around 9 hours and can assist up to 5 clients a day. He believes that his business is going well because he is responsible and honest with clients.

Jose is very grateful to the Kiva lenders as their help has enabled him to purchase wood for his carpentry work and so he has the materials he needs. In this way he can improve his income. This allows him to continue working to make his greatest dream a reality, that is “To have a large carpentry business”.
