A loan of $875 helped to purchase pigs, chickens and animal feed.

Blanca Beatriz's story

Blanca has been a member of the Union Progesista community bank for the past nine years, and she enjoys the format because at every meeting she sees her friends and they help each other with their problems. She lives in the parish of Santa Ana in Cuenca, Ecuador, which is known for its beautiful views. The people make a living in commerce, livestock and farming, and many work in the city. Blanca is 47 years old, married and has three children who are grown up; two are married and live on their own, and her single daughter works and helps out with the household finances. Blanca owns her home. Her husband works as a security guard, while Blanca has cleaned houses for a number of years. At home, she dedicates herself to raising pigs and chickens while also raising crops on her land to feed the household. She plans to use this loan to purchase pigs, chickens and animal feed. Her goal is to have a larger area for her animals.
