A loan of $325 helped to buy chickens and sheep.

María Carmen's story

María is a member of the Cochapamba communal bank and it’s been sometime since she made friends with all of her fellow members. She lives in the Valle en Cuenca parish where the people farm and raise livestock. They are gentle, friendly people who maintain their culture and traditions.

María is 50 years old, married, and has three children, two of who are married and on their own. The other son lives at home. Her single son works and helps her financially. Her husband works as a mason in construction. She owns her home.

María raises chickens, sheep, and other livestock and has been doing this since she was very young. Now it allows her to support her household.

She will use the money from this loan to buy chickens and sheep. She likes the communal bank because of the camaraderie and unity among all of its members.
