A loan of $800 helped to purchase two glass cabinets and merchandise.

Olivia Mayela's story

Olivia is a 53 year old woman who lives in the city of Cañete in the district of Imperial with her four children, whom she loves and who are her principal reason for living. She is a very friendly, hardworking and enthusiastic person who dedicates all her effort to helping her family get ahead because she has always been both father and mother to her children.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of resources and due to the need to work, Olivia was unable to follow a professional path but she was able to take a few courses in pastry making. In her spare time she cooks a very delicious “carapulcra con sopa seca” to share with her family.

On her own initiative and with a great deal of determination and dedication, Olivia opened a small business several years ago selling underwear for men, women and children. She works on average 8 hours every day starting early in the morning and believes she does well due to sacrifice and because of her friendly treatment of her customers.

Olivia is very grateful to KIVA lenders because, thanks to their help, she will be able to purchase two glass cabinets and underwear in greater volume so that her business will be better set up and stocked. In this way she will be able to wait on more clients and continue working in order to realize her great dream of expanding her business and having her own sales stall.
